Russia threatens to ban re-export of fruits and vegetables from Belarus

This is stated in the report that appeared after the meeting of the Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, Sergey Dankvert, with the Deputy Director of the Main State Inspectorate for Seed Production, Plant Quarantine and Plant Protection of the Republic of Belarus Alyaksandr Paulovich.

The site of Rosselkhoznadzor notes that the agency does not receive reliable information about the volume of imports and the volume of goods that have passed through the procedure of customs clearance in our country. This leads to falsification of the goods’ true country of origin.

After the meeting, the head of the Russian department gave an interview to Russia 24, in which he called Belarus “a country with uncontrollable risks.”

The Russian ministry also complains about the lack of information systems in Belarus that would allow tracking the movement of products across a single territory of the Eurasian Economic Union.

“Since the responsibility for the movement of products in this case lies with the Belarusian side, the Rosselkhoznadzor reserves the right to prohibit the re-export of fruits and vegetables from the Republic of Belarus,” the statement on the agency’s website says.
