Russia’s FSB: Woman suspected of spying for Ukraine detained in Crimea


Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) detained a woman who is suspected of treason. The Russian citizen was recruited by Ukrainian special services, the FSB press service reports.

According to the agency, the resident of Sevastopol was collecting secret military information for the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.

The suspect has been placed under arrest for two months. A criminal case under Article 275 of the Criminal Code (high treason) was initiated against her. The woman may face imprisonment for up to 20 years.

A week ago, the FSB reported the detention of a Russian serviceman in the town of Aksai (Rostov region). The man is also suspected of spying for Ukraine. The FSB claims the Russian serviceman got tasks rom Ukraine’s intelligence. In particular, he allegedly collected military information and conveyed it to Ukrainians, which could harm the country’s defensive power, the officers stressed.
