“A number of Telegram channels report that there are searches at Mash, the police are seizing computers, delving into our papers and summoning our employees. And it is all true. It is not surprising: many people do not like the way we work, our policy, our ideology, ” Mash editor-in-chief Maxim Iksanov said and added that the channel would continue working.

In an interview with RBC, Iksanov said he was not aware of the real reasons for the searches and confirmed the fact of detaining a Mash employee. “He had been interrogated all day; our defense lawyers were not allowed to meet with him,” the editor stressed.

The raid might be linked to the fact that some Mash journalists allegedly used fake documents and tried to get a record of pilots’ and controllers’ talks during the recent accident in Sheremetyevo, but they were detained by FSB officers, the Durov’s Code Telegrams channel (“Код Дурова”) reports with reference to an anonymous source.

Russia’s ecurity officials have declined comment on the situation.

Mash is a media project created by former employees of TV station LifeNews which is notorious for spreading fake news and ostentatious breaches of ethics in journalism.
