PM Medvedev sees potential to improve relations with Ukraine under Zelenskiy

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has commented on the results of the presidential elections in Ukraine won by Volodymyr Zelenskiy. He noted that he sees a chance to improve relations between Kyiv and Moscow.

“I have no doubts: regarding Russia, the new head of state will adhere to the rhetoric that he used during the election campaign. He will repeat well-known ideological formulas, focused on different groups of the population. I have no illusions about this. At the same time, there are still chances for better contacts with our country,” the head of the Russian government believes, RBC reports.

The Russian Prime Minister said that in order for relations between Kyiv and Moscow to improve, there needs to be honesty as well as an approach that will take into account political realities and the situation in the east of the country.

“Therefore, the most important thing to wish for the new Ukrainian leadership is sanity,” Medvedev wrote.
