The House of Representatives has adopted in the first reading the draft Law “On Amendments to the Laws on the Effective Functioning of the Military Organization of the State”.
More than 10,000 people have signed the petition against the draft law.
The authors of the draft law believe that study linked deferment should be given only once. This means that post-college training and further education at the masters level will not be possible without army service.
“The one-time principle will not apply to those who study in the areas of government agencies. All the deferrals provided before the draft law comes into force will be valid. No one plans to cancel them,” said Defense Minister of Belarus Andrei Raukou.
