Lukashenka plans to visit Riga

Alyaksandr Lukashenka has congratulated President of Latvia Egils Levits on his 65th birthday and expressed hope for a prompt meeting in Riga, BelTA writes.

The message notes that Lukashenka hopes to continue working together to strengthen good neighborly relations with Latvia.

“The planned contacts at the highest level will contribute to this. I trust that soon we will be able to meet in hospitable Riga to discuss ways to deepen cooperation between Belarus and Latvia,” he stressed.

The visit of Lukashenka to Latvia has been postponed several times already. Initially it was supposed to take place back in the summer of 2019, but these plans were cancelled. In November 2019, Lukashenka announced that he would visit Latvia in the first or second quarter of 2020. Later a specific date was named — April 3. However, due to the pandemic, the visit was postponed again.
