On May 19th, the court added another 15 days of administrative arrest for the blogger Siarhey Tsikhanouski. In total, he will spend 45 days behind bars.

A Homiel court has sentenced blogger Tsikhanouski, who is now serving the previous 15-day arrest, another 15 days, human rights activist Leanid Sudalenka reports.

The day before he was sentenced to 30 days based on two protocols — for meetings with subscribers in Vorsha and Brest. Thus, he will spend a total of 45 days in a detention facility.

Before the court hearing Tsikhanouski said that 7 more administrative protocols were drawn up on him for meetings with people in different cities.

On May 6th, Tsikhanouski was detained and tried for participation in a rally against the integration, which took place back in December.

While in the TDF, Tsikhanouski said that he intended to take part in the presidential elections. His authorized representative – wife Sviatlana – submitted the documents to the CEC for registration of the initiative group, but the CEC refused to register Tsikhanouski’s initiative group.

After the refusal, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya submitted the documents to the CEC for registration of the initiative group to nominate her as a candidate.

On May 20th, it will become known whether the CEC will register her initiative group.
