Belarus not to receive last tranche of EFSD loan

As the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development has closed the corresponding program, Belarus will allegedly be unable to get the seventh tranche of the much-talked-about loan.

The loan availability has already expired, news agency BelaPAN reports with source in financial circles. A new loan is not being negotiated.

According to the source, Russia, which is the main donor of the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development, links discussing the financial issues with the program of deepening the two countries integration.

As reported earlier, the availability of the last tranche of the EFSD for Belarus in the amount of $200 mln was extended until June 30, 2019. Initially, all tranches of the loan should have been received by the end of 2018, but Belarus failed to meet the conditions for their allocation in time.

In May, the Belarusian Finance Minister Maksim Yermalovich stated that Belarus had met all the conditions of the program. He said that the 2019 state budget of Belarus included the seventh tranche of the EFSD loan ($200 mln) as well as $600 mln loan from the Russian government.
