Ihar Shunevich has been relieved of the post of Minister of Internal Affairs of Belarus. This decision was taken today by President of Belarus Alyakasndr Lukashenka, TUT.BY sources reports. The official confirmation is yet to be published.
Ihar Shunevich had been heading the Ministry of Internal Affairs for seven years.
Earlier today, during a working meeting with Interior Minister Shunevich, Alyaksandr Lukashenka criticized some aspects of the Ministry’s work in terms of preparation for the 2nd European Games.
Alyaksandr Lukashenka has raised the issue of the Internal Ministry’s work several times in recent months. In February, the head of state warned Shunevich that he would seriously analyze the work of law enforcement agencies in the near future.
