Back in USSR? Military training instructors may appear in Belarusian schools


The Education Ministry may open the posts of heads in charge of military training and patriotic upbringing in Belarusian schools, minister Ihar Karpenka said on October, 30.

The head of state tasked us with stepping up the educational work with teenagers and youth. Our teachers should shape the outlook of the young generation philosophy, pay attention to their patriotic education, preparation for responsible living in the future. In order to further improve the forms and methods of this work, the introduction of positions of military and patriotic education heads is being considered,” Karpenka said.

In Soviet schools, there were such teachers, who were called ‘voyenruks’ ( military training instructors). However, the Education Minister stresses that the focus on military and patriotic education is necessary to train male schoolers for the sportive competition Defender of Motherland.
