‘Auschwitz for cows’: Lukashenka gets peeved during visit to dairy farm

During Tuesday’s working visit to Mahiliou region, Alyaksandr Lukashenka express outrage about the conditions of cattle management and the lack of order in industrial premises in the Slizhy dairy farm (Shklou District).

He did not mince words when criticising the local directorship.

“If a person doesn’t realize that it is [like] Auschwitz, but you put him in charge of the holding company [which Slizhy is part of], I don’t understand you at all,” Alyaksandr Lukashenka stressed.

According to the Belarusian leader, although the farm has been in operation for two years, it seems to him it has turned 10 years due to the fact that ‘nobody has properly cleaned up the place’.

“So, we can do well without those 20-25% of weak farms in terms of production output. But our people live there, it is necessary to work the soil. Therefore, we do not turn adrift these enterprises, these villages and people, we support them,” state-run news agency BelTA quotes him as saying.

All the people responsible for the poor business environment and improper labour discipline in the agricultural holding company Kupalauskaye must be dismissed, Lukashenka ordered.
