Alleged pro-Kremlin spy arrested in Poland

Piotr S., who is suspected of espionage on behalf of Russia, worked in the Military Property Agency which is part of the Defense Ministry, Polish Public Television reports with reference to the sources familiar with the case.

The Polish citizen was arrested by Poland’s Internal Security Agency (ABW) on October 24, Stanisław Żaryn, a representative of the Polish intelligence service, said. The searches were conducted at the suspect’s home and workplace.

The illegal possession of firearms and ammunition was exposed, electronic media and documents were found. In addition, searches were held at the places of persons who were in touch with Piotr S.,” Żaryn stressed.

Formal charges have been already brought against the man. On October 26, the court ruled to place him under arrest for three months. Piotr S. may face up to three years in prison.
