The number of the people who contracted the coronavirus infection has totalled to 8,022, the Belarusian Health Ministry reports.
To put that in context, the neighbouring Ukraine populated by 42 mln persons has 7,170 coronavirus cases registered as of April, 23. The population of Belarus is around 9.4 mln.
“For the entire period of the spread of the infection in the country, 60 patients who were previously tested positive for the coronavirus have died; they had chronic and co-existing illnesses,” the ministry said on Thursday afternoon.
According to the health officials, 938 persons have recovered.
On April 22, there were 7,281 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Belarus. Thus, over the past day, the ministry has recorded 741 new infections, which has become a sad record since the beginning of the pandemic.
