Blitzkrieg, NATO troops, house explosions: Lukashenka sends dismaying messages again

Enemies needed Belarus as a ‘springboard’ for the attack on Russia, Alyaksandr Lukashenka said during Thursday’s government meeting.

By contrast with Russia, they counted on a blitzkrieg in Belarus in the summer of 2020, Lukashenka believes.

“They want to instantly overthrow the government or at least show that the government is down and send NATO troops here. In Russia, they will be working longterm to destabilise the domestic situation. They understand perfectly well that a blitzkrieg is impossible in Russia,” state-run news agency BelTA quotes him.

According to him, Alexei Navalny’s investigations and recent protests in Russian cities are ‘just the beginning’ of the would-be destabilising process. Neither Belarus nor Russia would be left in peace, Lukashenka warned and named the USA and the EU as main adversaries seeking to put the Russian Federation under control.

In the course of the meeting, Alyaksandr Lukashenka also made mention of the special services’ successful preventing terror attacks.

“The State Security Committee will soon make public the facts about how they tried not only to undermine the situation, but also to blow up houses and streets in our country and where that ammunition and explosives were coming from. Those chains have been fully detected, and people who carried it across the border have been detained,” the politician told BelTA.

Lukashenka has not revealed any names so far, but he promises to make the information public in the near future as some of the alleged criminals were ‘neutralised and identified’ by the KGB and the police.
