Ukraine urges its citizens to leave Russia

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry recommends that its citizens immediately leave Russian territory due to the intensification of Russian military aggression.

“In connection with the intensification of Russian aggression against Ukraine, which, among other things, may lead to a significant limitation of consular assistance in the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Ukrainian citizens refrain from any trips to the Russian Federation and that those who are in this country immediately leave its territory,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The Foreign Ministry warns that disregarding the recommendation may significantly complicate the protection of all Ukrainian citizens in Russia.

On 22 February, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry sent President Volodymyr Zelensky a request to sever diplomatic relations with Russia. The Verkhovna Rada registered a draft decision on halting transport communication with Russia and closing the borders with Russia and Belarus.
