Russian strategic bombers fly over Belarusian border again

Neither the Russian nor the Belarusian side have been able to explain why the border is patrolled by bombers that can carry nuclear weapons.

Ministry of Defense of Belarus has published a video of joint border Union State patrols involving the Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bombers, escorted by Su-30SM fighters.

It was not specified when the flight took place and over which country border.

On November 11, Alyaksandr Lukashenka asked the Russian Defense Ministry to send strategic bombers capable of carrying nuclear weapons to the Belarusian border. The day before, two Russian TU-22M3s had already flown on patrol in the Belarusian sky. The footage of that flight did not resemble the new footage of the Belarusian Defense Ministry. It is likely that there was also a second flight.

At the end of November, Lukashenka also said that he had suggested that Russia return nuclear weapons to Belarus. Uladzimir Makey recalled this statement on 18 December. In an interview with the Arabic channel of the Russian propaganda network RT, he called it “one of the possible responses to the upcoming possible actions of the North Atlantic Alliance on the territory of Poland.”
