Chyzh was detained on March 15 last year on his return from Moscow. Together with Chyzh, police detained the heads of several companies that the businessman kept after the collapse of his empire. In July 2021, his company Triple was declared bankrupt.

In October, the Central District Court of Minsk considered behind closed doors the complaints of Yury Chyzh about his detention.

Judge Viktoryia Shabunya considered Chyzh’s complaints about his detention, imprisonment, continued detention, house arrest, and placement in a forensic psychiatric expert hospital at once. But then the court considered only one complaint — about detention. It was not satisfied, and the businessman remained in custody.

Earlier, Yury Chyzh was detained in 2016 on suspicion of large-scale tax evasion. Then the case did not go to court since Chyzh pleaded guilty and reimbursed the losses. In September of the same year, he was released.
