The final part of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation peacekeeping operation in Kazakhstan is over, Telegram channel ОДКБ-CSTO reports.

According to Lukashenka, Kazakhstan wanted to repeat the Belarusian scenario of protests, but a modernized one.

Belarusian servicemen belonging to CSTO peacekeeping forces have returned to Belarus, the press service of the Belarusian Defence Ministry reports. The planes have landed at Machulishchy military airfield.

On January 13, the Belarusian Defence Ministry stated that the peacekeeping forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation peacekeepers were completing their mission in Kazakhstan.

In his Tuesday’s address, Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Takayev made mention of the presence of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation military contingent in the country.

The military aircraft IL-76 took off from Machulishchy around 3:10 p.m.

Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s office, the opposition Coordination Council and the People’s Anti-Crisis Administration issued a joint statement on the inadmissibility of Belarusian servicemen’ participating in the operation abroad.

On the night of January 6, Armenia’s Prime Minister and Chairman of the CSTO Collective Security Council Nikol Pashinyan announced that the Collective Security Treaty Organisation decided to send ‘peacekeeping forces’ to Kazakhstan for ‘a limited period of time’ on the back of the appeal of Kazakh President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev.

The Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) has no intention to meddle in Belarus’ affairs, but it is ready to lend a helping hand to the country if such a need arises, news agency Interfax reports with reference to Secretary General Stanislau Zas.
