Wizz Air to launch Minsk-Budapest flights in 2020


The Hungarian low cost airline Wizz Air will start operating Budapest-Minsk flights next spring, Director of the Aviation Department of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Belarus Artsyom Sikorski said, BelTA informs.

“The Hungarian Aviation Administration has sent a draft memorandum of understanding to the Department of Aviation for the appointment of Hungarian carrier Wizz Air to the Budapest-Minsk line from the IATA spring-summer 2020 season. Currently, work is underway to coordinate and sign it,” said the director of the department, Artsyom Sikorski.

He also says that the aviation authorities of Belarus have agreed on the frequency of flights with their Russian counterparts for the IATA autumn-winter season 2019-2020. It will remain at the same level – 63 flights per week for each of the partners.

Wizz Air is a Hungarian low-cost airline, one of the largest in the world. It operates mainly in the Central European market.

The Hungarian company has been negotiating with Belarus for almost a year now. Initially, it was reported that flights from Budapest would be sent to Hrodna. Later, the parties decided to implement the Budapest-Minsk direction.
