On June 19, Alyaksandr Frantskevich has been deported to Belarus from Ukraine.
“Last evening, former political prisoner Alyaksandr Frantskevich was detained in Kyiv, allegedly by Ukraine’s Securyty Service (SBU); today, ha has been deported to the territory of the Republic of Belarus,” journalist Yauheniya Dolhaya said on Facebook.
According to her, the Belarusian was visiting the State Migration Service Department when being detained.
Over the SBU has started to exert pressure on his associates, representatives of the anarchist movement, Frantskevich claims. The SBU suspected the group of people who call themselves ‘anti-fascists’ of attacking ex-serviceman Dmitry Verbich, a Right Sector member who was among the defenders of Donetsk Airport.
“I think the pressure has been caused by a request from the Belarusian law enforcers who might have asked Ukrainians to turn me over. Earlier, the KGB repeatedly sent their ‘greetings’ to me,” the anarchist told Belsat.eu in 2018.
In May 2011, three anarchists – Ihar Alinevich, Mikalai Dziadok and Alyaksandr Frantskevich – got jail terms in high-security correctional institutions (from 3 to 8 years). They were adjudged guilty of arsoning the Russian Embassy building in Minsk. In addition, Alyaksandr was also found guilty of unautorised access to computer data, developing, using and distributing harmful programmes. Belarusian human rights defenders recognised him as a political prisoner.
After serving his sentence in a penal colony in Ivatsevichy, the activist was released in 2013. He was under preventive police supervision. As Frantskevich continued participating in protest rallies, two administrative cases were initiated against him. In fear of being jailed again, Frantskevich left for Kyiv in 2015.
