Trade with separatists? Ukraine imposes sanctions on two Belarus companies

It is the first time Ukraine has imposed sanctions on Belarusian enterprises.

As reported earlier, Ukraine updated lists of personal special economic and other sanctions. The relevant presidential decree was signed by Petro Poroshenko.

Two Belarusian enterprises, Mazyr distillery and The World of Beer, have been added to the sanctions list; the former will be under sanctions for one year while trade operations the latter will be suspended for three years.

The Ukrainian side did not give reasons for introducing sanctions.

It should be noted that Belsat TV contributors Ihar Ilyash and Katsyaryna Andreyeva carried out a journalistic investigation into the distillery’s cooperation with separatist-controlled ‘republics’ in 2017.

“We worked with the DPR and the LPR, but by the moment, we have forced our cooperation onto the back burner due to the question of price. Our partner was Huge Sky company,” Alyaksandr Makedonski, deputy director of the Mazyr-based plant, said.

According to the journalistic duo, such Belarusian enterprises as Minsk Kristall Group, Krynitsa, BelAlko, Radomir, Slavprodukt also got mixed up in selling food products and beverages to separatists.
