Several policemen on lung ventilation as 500 police get coronavirus

Almost 500 employees of the internal affairs agencies have been tested positive for coronavirus, Interior Minister Yury Karayeu reported on May 5, BelTA informs.

According to the Minister, about 500 people fell ill, 34 of them have recovered.

“It’s mostly asymptomatic. Some people are in hospital, several people are on ventilator,” said Yury Karayeu.

Among the patients there are workers of road police, security service, MIA Academy, about 20 employees of the MIA hospital, Radio Liberty noted.

In early March, it was reported that the minister himself was on self-isolation because of the coronavirus. His son had returned from China. At that time there was an unfavorable epidemiological situation.
