Russians put trust in Lukashenka - survey

Among the CIS countries, Belarus and Kazakhstan enjoy the greatest sympathy and support of the Russians, the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) reports with reference to their recent survey.

When asked about the most stable and successful country in the CIS, 68% of respondents named Belarus. Kazakhstan takes the 2nd place (52%). It should be noted that over the past years, Belarus has often been a strong leader – but only in price hikes, low GDP and salaries.

As before, Russian citizens consider Belarus (60%) and Kazakhstan (47%) their main partner on the world stage. The elderly have more positive attitude towards the both countries than the Russian youth. Expectedly, Ukraine takes the lowest positions.
