Russian TV workers denied entry into Moldova

Moldova’s Border Guard Service has barred the crews of Russian TV channels NTV and Rossiya-1 from entering the country.

According to the media workers, they intended to interview Moldovan president Igor Dodon.

Interestingly, the presidential press-service is critical of the border guards’ decision.

“We strongly condemn such actions and regard them as a new challenge the authorities are tossing to our partner – the Russian Federation – and as an obvious limitation of journalists’ access to information,” the statement reads.

The border guards put the ban down to the fact that the Russians failed to confirm the purpose of their visit to Moldova. This is not the first time Russian state-run TV employees have been denied entry into the country.

Igor Dodon is notorious for his pro-Russian sentiment, while the government Democratic Party aligns itself with Europe.
