Russian citizen reportedly killed in Syria, MoD tight-lipped

Another Russian citizen has allegedly been killed in Syria.

25-year-old Mark Neymark, a resident of the town of Megion (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area) was blown up by a land mine, reports.

The exact date of his death is unknown. On October 17, Neymark will be buried in his native town.

The Russian went to Syria in the summer of 2017. According to the independent OSINT group Conflict Intelligence Team (CIT), Neymark supposedly served in the Russian special operations forces.

The Ministry of Defense has not reported the loss yet.

On Monday, CIT said that at least nine fighters of Russia’s unregistered private military company Wagner had been killed in Syria over the last months. In total, according to Reuters, only since the beginning of 2017 at least 40 Russian soldiers died there.

By far, Russia’s Defense Ministry confirmed the death of only 10 people.
