Astravets district court began the hearing of the criminal case on drug trafficking charges brought against a 46-year-old citizen of Russia on 20 November.
As the Investigative Committee previously reported, when the Russian citizen was traveling from Lithuania to Belarus, border guards found a stash in his car. It contained more than 290 kg of hashish packed in more than three thousand tiles. He planned to sell the hashish in Russia.

The Russian citizen was taken into custody. The detainee was charged with the purchase, storage and transportation of drugs on a large scale (Part 3 of Art. 328 of the Criminal Code of Belarus), as well as drug smuggling across the customs border of the EEU committed by a group of individuals.
