According to the document, Belarus may:

  • extend the period of the loan use until the end of 2022, the interest rate will be 3.3% fixed rather than “mixed”
  • the start date of the loan repayment is postponed to April 1, 2023 instead of 2021.
  • the overdue debt will bear interest at an annual rate of 3.3% plus a margin of 2%.

The document was prepared by the Ministry of Finance and agreed with the Russian Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Economy and Development, as well as with Rosatom, which is building the station.

Russia provided Belarus with $10 billion loan, most of which went for the NPP construction.

The launch of the first unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant is scheduled for July 2020.
