Rosatom says first BelNPP unit is 97% ready but PM Rumas has questions

Aleksey Likhachev, Director General of the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, said that the first BelNPP power unit is in “the highest degree of technical readiness”.

On September 24, a representative of the State Corporation took part in a meeting with Prime Minister of Belarus Syarhei Rumas and Energy Minister Viktar Karankevich. Before that Rosatom head visited the BelNPP construction site, reports the Ministry of Energy of Belarus.

“According to the head of the state corporation Rosatom, the first power unit is in the highest degree of technical readiness. The parties have developed solutions for further cooperation on the commissioning of the first power unit and construction of the second power unit,” reads the report of the Ministry of Energy of Belarus.

According to Aleksey Likhachev, the first power unit is 97% ready.

During the meeting, the head of the Belarusian government suggested that parties understand what was preventing them from “implementing plans”.

“The main thing is that we must clearly know what prevents us from implementing the plans that have been outlined for the key stages. I think we should work in such a way from both sides that no failures occur,” Belta.by quotes Rumas.

The first power unit of BelNPP is planned to be put into operation by the end of 2019, the second one — in 2020.
