Encore! ‘Narodny Albom. 20 years later’ in Białystok opera house

A full house, endless applause and an encore to Prostyia Slovy, a hit song by Narodny Albom. On September 4, the show ‘Narodny Albom. 20 years later’ based on the musical created in the 90s by Lyavon Volski and Mikhail Anempadystau was staged in Podlasie Opera.

Old favorite songs played out in fresh colours thanks to jazz band Apple Tea, string quartet Aquarelle, a wind band and a trio of backing vocalists. Well-known Polish TV director Konrad Smuga was responsible for the visual part of the project.

“The new concert version of narodny Album was created on the initiative of Belsat TV on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the famous musical project. The event was made possible with the involvement of Białystok Cultural Center, the National Cultural Center and the National Audiovisual Institute,” director Smuga said.

There was new sound, the first in album history professional stage design and costumes as well as the well-known, prominent figures in the lead roles. Experimenting with sound and form were found reasonable: the audience was delighted with the updated Narodny Album.

“The songs are the same, the approach is the same, the main performers are mainly the same, the authors are the same, but now it is a richer palette, the musical project is more diverse,” Lyavon Volski, a co-author of Narodny Albom, said.

The show ‘Narodny Albom. 20 years later’ directed by Konrad Smuga premiered within the Wschód Kultury. Inny Wymiar festival coordinated by Bialystok Cultural Center and  National Cultural Center with support of kulturadostepna.pl.

Belsat TV is the executive producer and author of the idea. The festival is co-produced by Polish National Audio and Video Institute NInA.
