Putin invited Lukashenka to Russia and told him about meeting with Trump


On July 23, there was a telephone conversation between Alyaksandr Lukashenka and Vladimir Putin. According to the Belarusian leader’s press service, the conversation was held on the initiative of the Russian side.

The leaders of the states discussed bilateral cooperation, primarily in the field of trade.

“Vladimir Putin invited Alyaksandr Lukashenka to visit Russia in the near future. A possible meeting of the two leaders, during which it is planned to discuss in detail the whole range of bilateral relations, may take place in Sochi,” the official press release said.

In addition, Lukashenka and Putin discussed Russian-American relations, including the recent summit in Helsinki.

“The Russian leader informed Alyaksandr Lukashenka about the nuances of the meeting. The main focus of the conversation was on arms control and the extension of the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty between Russia and the United States, which expires in February 2021,” the press service of Lukashenka said.

The Kremlin press service reported on the conversation between Putin and Lukashenka with one sentence: it is noted that the presidents discussed “some aspects of the Eurasian Economic Union’s activities, as well as current international issues.”
