‘Phantom’ losses. Another Russian mercenary killed in Syria

33-year-old Russian Anton Dobrygin was killed near the Syrian town of Deir ez-Zor.

Dobrygin, a member of Russia’s unregistered private military company ‘Wagner’, died in a roadside IED explosion, volunteer OSINT organization Conflict Intelligence Team reports.

According to information available on social media, the deceased used to serve in the Russian Armed Forces in the rank of senior lieutenant, but quit. Supposedly, he was fired by the command on the suspicion of theft.

131 Russians have been killed in Syria for the last 9 months, news agency Reuters reports.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has never confirmed PMC Wagner casualties.

It is to be recalled that Wagner fought for separatists in Donbas before their coming to Syria as which earlier. The grouping of Russian mercenaries led by Commander Dmitry Utkin is supposedly financed by Evgeny Prigozhin whose nickname is ‘Putin’s Chef’.

Rumour has it that Wagner soldiers get thousands of dollars for participating in military operations.
