Over 200 persons on list of Spring-2017 protests suppressors

The Belarusian National Congress (BNC) has published a ‘black list of the Spring-2017′.

The names of those who ‘took part in the persecution of peaceful demonstrators and journalists are given.

More than 250 judges, police officers and judges involved in the suppression of people’s protests have been blacklisted.

“They beat and detained people. They gave false evidence in court and put protesters to torture. They sent people to jail and imposed heavy fines on them,” the Belarusian National Congress says.

In 2017, Alyaksandr Lukashenka‘s notorious decree on ‘idlers’ caused a massive public outcry. In February-March, protests were held in a number of Belarusian cities and towns.

On March 25, Belarusians came to main squares of their cities to protest the ‘parasite’ law and celebrate the unofficial Freedom Day. But the Minsk riot police brutally dispersed the protest. Hundreds of people – even women, elderly people, journalists and ordinary passers-by – were arrested, battered and jailed.
