Official investigators believe that beating and mockery of the soldier led to the suicide of 21-year-old private soldier Alyaksandr Korzhych.
The investigation worked on three versions of the tragic incident in the military unit in Pechy: murder, bringing to suicide, and suicide. On April 19, the Investigative Committee held a press conference to tell how private Korzhych had died.
According to the representative of the Investigative Committee, the version of the murder was not confirmed.
After the death of soldier Alyaksandr Korzhych, the Investigative Committee instituted criminal proceedings under the article “violation of the statutory relations that led to grave consequences”. The mother of Korzhych earlier said that her son often asked her to send him money. After his death, fellow soldiers told her that one day in the Pechy unit costs 15 BYN, but money did not always save from torture.
Svyatlana Korzhych, after learning about the results of the investigation, said in her interview with TUT.BY that she would “go to Lukashenka”.
“Let the commander-in-chief answer, how he saved the life of my child,” said the mother of private Korzhych.
Alyaksandr Korzhych was found hanged on October 3 in the basement on the territory of the military unit in Pechy. His body was found with tied legs and a t-shirt tied over his head. According to relatives and friends of Alyaksandr, he was a victim of humiliating treatment and abuse.
