Vitsebsk hospital nurse suddenly dies of pneumonia amid COVID-19 fears


On April 4th a nurse at the Vitsebsk Regional Clinical Hospital, Lyubou K, died of pneumonia. Today she was buried at the Vitsebsk cemetery. Her relatives believe that the woman’s death is not connected with the coronavirus.

Lyubou K. was 49 years old. She worked as a nurse at the cardiology department of the Vitsebsk Regional Clinical Hospital.

In the morning of April 4th, Lyubou K. was hospitalized, at lunchtime she was connected to an artificial lung ventilation device, and at 17:40 the woman died. The medical documents indicate that the cause of death was pneumonia.

Relatives believe that the death of Lyubou K. is not connected with coronavirus infection. The woman was allowed to be buried in an open casket. According to her niece, if there was any suspicion of coronavirus, the coffin would be closed.

“She actually had weak lungs, she had pneumonia last year. Plus the extra weight. She also had a weakened immune system after surgery,” her niece told belsat.eu.

On April 7, Lyubov K. was buried at a Vitsebsk cemetery.

  • The Vitsebsk region ranks second after Minsk in terms of the number of patients with coronavirus. It is also, along with Minsk, the leader in the number of deaths of patients with COVID-19. The 47-year-old nurse Sviatlana Kisialiova, who died on April 3 was one of such victims.
  • As of April 6, the Ministry of Health officially confirmed 13 deaths of patients with COVID-19.
