Monastery where Lukashenka and son used to go on Easter closed

The fratry in the village of Malyia Lyady where Alyaksandr Lukashenka and his son Mikalai used to come for Easter, has been closed for the faithful.

Medics of the Smalyavichy central district hospital informed TUT.BY that the monastery had been infected with coronavirus. This information was not confirmed in the Barysau diocese, to which the monastery belongs.

TUT.BY has learned form a reader working in the health care system of Smalyavichy district that two people in Lyadensk monastery had been infected with coronavirus, while their first level contacts – 55 people – are in isolation.

One of the physicians of the local hospital, who wished to remain anonymous, confirmed that there are officially registered cases of COVID-19 in the monastery. According to him, 54 residents of the Lyadensk monastery — monks, novices and others – are first level contacts and are in self-isolation.

“More precisely, they should be. They absolutely do not follow the rules of self-isolation, they eat in common canteens, they have contacts with each other. According to my data, there are many sick people among the residents of this monastery — 16 at the moment,” the medic told TUT.BY. “Some have been hospitalized locally, some in Minsk, some have remained in the monastery”.

According to the doctor, the hospital received the first positive test for coronavirus, taken by the monastery residents, on April 22.
