Minsk: Critics of Belarus-Russia integration set to protest

On December 7, the very day when Alyaksandr Lukashenka and Vladimir Putin are to meet in Sochi and agree on further integration of Belarus and Russia, two protest rallies are expected to take place in Minsk.

One of them is being organized by the Fresh Wind initiative that has been monitoring the progress of integration talks. Together with their supporters, they are going to form a human chain between the buildings of the Main Post Office and the circus on Independence Avenue and stay there for about 15 minutes. The event will start at 11.30 (local time).

Pavel Sevyarynets, the leader of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party, urged compatriots to come to Kastrychnitskaya Square at 12.00 and have white-red-white flags. He also warns that the participants might be detained by the police, as the rally has not been authorized.

Belsat TV will be livestreaming the two protest acts.
