Lukashenka sends condolences to Putin over Irkutsk tragedy. No word about Minsk


Belarusian president Alyaksandr Lukashenka expressed his condolences to his Russian Vladimir Putin and Russians.

“With great emotion and compassion, the Republic of Belarus took the news about numerous casualties and widespread damage caused by the floods in Irkutsk region”, the message reads.

Lukashenka asked to convey words of sincere support and wishes of speedy recovery to the injured.

As reported earlier, 21 persons died in the floods in Irkutsk region.

On July 3, during Independence Day celebration in Minsk, fireworks exploded. A 64-year-old woman was killed and about ten persons were injured. Two casualties are still in hospital. The fireworks were bought in Russia. The Belarusian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case and detained two suspects.

However, the Belarusian leader has not offered condolences to the family of the victim yet.
