Lukashenka on parade: We just couldn't do it any other way

In his speech at the parade on May 9th, Aliaksandr Lukashenka said that Belarus could not cancel the festive events for the Victory Day 2020.

According to Lukashenka, even the idea to change the traditional format of the Victory Day “was unacceptable”.

“But in this crazy world, which has lost its landmarks, there are people who condemn us for the place and time of this holy event. I want to tell them in human terms: do not hurry to draw conclusions, let alone to condemn us, the descendants of the victory, the Belarusians. We simply could not do otherwise,” he stressed.

Lukashenka said that “we had no other choice,” and if we had, “we would have done the same”.

Lukashenka has never mentioned the coronavirus and pandemic in his speech.
