Lukashenka: I don’t want to be Belarus’ last president

During Friday visit to Shklou, President Alyaksandr Lukashenka has suggested that Russia introduced the so called tax maneuver to exert pressure on Belarus.

“Russia has launched the tax maneuver on purpose in order to start putting the screws on Belarus. And it is up to you to guess for what purpose they decided to impose pressure,” Lukashenka said.

According to Lukashenka, he has the honour to be the first head of the nation, but he does not want to become the last president of Belarus.

When addressing the staff of Shklou Newsprint Mill, the Belarusian leader also raised the oil issue.

“The conflict with Russia occurred because of the fact that we were demanded to pay for oil more than it cost on the global market,” Alyaksandr Lukashenka stressed.

He announced Belarus plans to purchase oil via the ports of the Baltic Sea. Moreover, according to Lukashenka, Belarus may get reverse-flow deliveries through the Druzhba pipeline. The third option is shipping oil through Ukraine.

“There is not any bluff. They say that Lukashenka is raising the stakes before the talks, but that is very much not the case. There are no stakes. We are just assessing the situation – what we will get and how much we will lose that way,” said the Belarusian leader.

In his telling, Belarus is negotiating with пдщифд oil sellers, including the US, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

“I have an excellent rapport with them. They say that they may deliver as much oil as we need,” he claimed.
