The Central Election Commission has received the documents for registration of the initiative group to nominate Alyaksandr Lukashenka as presidential candidate, the CEC website reports.
Mikhail Orda — Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus — will be the head of the initiative group of the incumbent president. The documents for registration of Lukashenka’s initiative group were submitted to the CEC on May 14th.
Thus, Alyaksandr Lukashenka is officially nominated for the sixth presidential term. He’s been the head of state for 26 years.
A total of 12 potential candidates have submitted the documents for registration of initiative groups to the CEC so far.
