Lukashenka believes Charnobyl zone land needs active development

During his visit to Naroulya district, Alyaksandr Lukashenka said that the areas affected by the Charnobyl disaster should be “very actively” developed, the press service of the President reports.

“People and I, we understand today that it’s possible to live on this land. The most important thing is that we will live here,” stressed Lukashenka. “It’s time to actively explore this land,” said Lukashenka.

Lukashenka also instructed the Ministry of Emergency Situations to report on what is now happening in the 30-kilometer exclusion zone around the Charnobyl nuclear power plant. He believes that the time has also come to deal with the development of these territories. But the situation there needs to be studied further.

“This is a small piece of land. But what will happen there tomorrow or the next day, what are the prospects? We need to see how we will return the protected area when time passes. What can we get there now? You can’t leave a single hectare of land,” stressed Lukashenka.

He reminded about his proposal about creation of multi-profile associations in Brahin, Naroulya and Khoyniki districts — holdings, including agricultural sector, sawmill, logging, perhaps something else.

“This is a prospect. We will think about it. And by the end of the year we will make a decision,” said Lukashenka.
