Lithuanian government grants EHU special status

On May 8, the Lithuanian government granted European Humanities University a special status, writes ru.delfi.lt.

The university has been recognized as a higher education institution operating in the conditions of exile for political reasons.

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius said at a government meeting that this status would ensure the continuity of the university’s activities.

The Lithuanian Center for Higher Education Quality Assessment made a negative conclusion about the quality of the university’s work, which could lead to the closure of the EHU. In the report submitted at the end of 2017, the strategic management of EHU, as well as scientific and artistic activities, received a negative assessment.

EHU is a private university founded in 1992 in Minsk. After being closed by the Belarusian authorities, the school moved to Vilnius. Since its inception, more than 3,000 graduates have received diplomas.
