How Belarus military ‘fought’ near Barysau (photos)

Large-scale military maneuvers have been held near the Belarusian town of Barysau on September 6 – 12.

According to the Commander of the North-Western Operational Command of the Armed Forces, Major-General Andrey Zhuk, the military have coped with the task.

Those participants who ‘were smart and showed good knowledge and skills when performing combat tasks’ have been awarded with medals and watches, he said.

About 7,500 troops, 260 armoured vehicles and 30 planes and helicopters were involved in the exercises that seems to have been one of the biggest exercises of the Belarusian army over the recent years.

The game was focused on repelling aggression upon the Republic of Belarus. According to the legend, the Belarusian military fought against illegal armed groups and saboteurs, as well as protected the state border.
