Health Ministry: 33 coronavirus deaths in Belarus


The number of the people who contracted the coronavirus infection has totalled to 3,281 in Belarus, the Health Ministry reports.

“3,281 coronavirus cases have been registered. Of them, 2,444 patients have been hospitalised; the rest have a mild or medium form of the disease, which makes ambulatory treatment possible. 57 persons are put on lung ventilators. 33 COVID-19 patients have died; they had chronic and co-existing illnesses,” Belarusian health officials said on Telegram.

71,875 tests for detecting the novel coronavirus have been conducted in Belarus, the statement reads.

On April 13, the ministry officially confirmed 29 coronavirus deaths in the country. Thus, in the past 24 hours, the number of the dead from COVID-19 has increased by 4. On the same day, Belarusian President Alyaksandr Lukashenka heard out a report by Health Minister Uladzimir Karanik. According to the head of state, he wanted to know the details about ‘the coronavirus psychosis’.

Earlier, Deputy Health Minister Alena Bohdan said in an interview to ctv.by that people having a mild form of COVID-19 might be allowed to recover at their homes.
