Frontman of Okean Elzy to head political party

On May 16, the Ukrainian musician and the frontman the Okean Elzy band Svyatoslav Vakarchuk announced the creation of the political party called “Voice”. He plans to run with it in the parliamentary elections to the Verkhovna Rada, which will be held on October 27.

“At a time when Russia by its actions undermines our security and creates an existential threat from the outside, the old policy weakens the state from the inside. We must destroy the internal enemy and become strong in the face of the external enemy,” said Vakarchuk.

The team of Svyatoslav Vakarchuk includes former Deputy Economy Minister Yulia Klimenko, former chairman of the anti-corruption organization Transparency International Ukraine Yaroslav Yurchishin, MD Yury Sokolov, former head of the Odessa region Solomiya Bobrovskaya, as well as actor, director and commander of the company that defended the Donetsk airport, Andrei Sharaskin.

Vakarchuk assured the public that the party will not take money from the oligarchs, and it will be financed by transparent businesses and simple Ukrainians. Now “Voice” is in the process of registration.

Лидер нового движения призвал украинцев присоединятся к команде «Голоса» через сайт GolosZmin.org.
