Russia’s Investigative Committee has stopped the prosecution of Sergei Abanichev, Daniil Konan, Valery Kostenko, Dmitry Vasilyev and Vladislav Barabanov, who were defendants in the case on late July’s ‘mass riots’ in Moscow.
“Criminal proceedings against the persons mentioned above have been dismissed, judicial restraints have been lifted. However, given the fact that there are signs of an administrative offense in these individuals’ actions of, the relevant materials have been submitted to the bodies of Russia’s Interior Ministry,” the press service of the Investigative Committee reports.
At the same time, the investigation into other persons’ participating in the protests in the Russian capital is still in progress.
On July 27, protests in support of independent candidates in the Moscow City Duma elections were held in Moscow. 1,373 people were detained at the protests. Three days after the rally, the Investigative Committee of Russia initiated a criminal case over mass riots that involved 13 defendants. Four persons are suspected of the use of violence against the authorities.
