Final tests are being carried out at the Belarusian NPP before nuclear fuel will be loaded and the first power unit commissioned, the general contractor of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant, ASE, reports.
The standardized program for commissioning units of nuclear power plants with water-cooled power reactors consists of four stages. Stage A involves “pre-commissioning”, stage B – “physical start-up”, stage C — “energy start-up”, stage D — “pilot production testing”.
“The main objective of stage A is to check the performance of the design parameters of the systems and equipment of the reactor unit before the fuel loading begins. Also at this stage, tests of the hermetic enclosure of the reactor building are being carried out,” said the vice president and director of the project for the construction of the Belarusian NPP, ASE Vitaliy Polyanin.
BelNPP with two VVER-1200 reactors with a total capacity of 2,400 MW is being built according to the Russian project of generation 3+.
