European Parliament approves visa agreement with Belarus

On May 13th, the European Parliament approved an agreement with Belarus on on visa facilitation and readmission.

The Belarusian-European agreement on readmission was supported by 634 deputies (out of 751), while 560 members of the European Parliament voted for the visa agreement.

Belarus and the EU signed these agreements in January 2020 in Brussels. Alyaksandr Lukashenka signed the laws on ratification of both agreements starting from 9 April.

If the EU and Belarus exchange ratification notes in May, Schengen visas for Belarusians will cost €35 in July.

The agreements come into force on the first day of the second month after the exchange of notes.
