Turkish President Erdogan visits Belarus for first time

Around two hundred businessmen arrived in Minsk together with the Turkish president.

Meeting of Alyaksandr Lukashenka with Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the Palace of Independence began with the national anthems.

After the ceremony, there were narrow format talks in which Lukashenka said that Belarus and Turkey “can rise to a new stage in the development of relations”.

“We have virtually no political differences, Belarusian leader said. – We have a single view on the international agenda and a very good relationship via diplomatic channels”.

“If you take into account this factor, we have a very long-standing relationship, which has run for more than ten years,” said Lukashenka.

Initially, it was expected that Erdogan would arrive in Minsk on July 29 but the visit was canceled after a military coup on the night of July 16.

Lukashenka thanked Erdogan for bringing along about 200 representatives and leaders of the largest companies in the country. Turkish investors will participate in the joint forum, with some 300 Belarusian companies. According to Lukashenka, it is the largest event in the relations between the two countries in the history of the Belarusian independence.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”393148″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]Today, Erdogan also attended the opening of the mosque.

Lukashenka said that Tayyip Erdogan visited Belarus for the first time, but expressed hope that he will enjoy the country despite the bad weather.
