The Eastern Christian church marks the Nativity, one of the biggest Christian holidays, for eleven days, till Epiphany Day on January, 19. During this period, believers do not observe fast.

According to the Gospel, Jesus was born to Mary and Josef, who had to go to Bethlehem shortly before his birth. When the Divine Child came to the world, three Kings (Magi) visited him, bearing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Christians believe that through the crucifixion and subsequent resurrection of Jesus, God the Father offered humans salvation and eternal life.
Christmas Day is celebrated on January, 7 by the Orthodox churches of Russia, Serbia, Georgia, Armenia, Jerusalem, Poland and others.
58.9% of the population of Belarus consider themselves believers. 82.5% of them belong to the Russian Orthodox Church (Belarusian Exarchate).
